Volunteer Recruitment PD & Networking Day

02 Sep 2026
10:30am - 2:30pm CDT

Join us for a day of learning and networking with staff from newcomer-serving and other nonprofit organizations that work with volunteers! This event is taking place at Regional Connections in Morden, on September 2, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Description of training led by Volunteer Manitoba:

Is your organization looking to recruit volunteers more effectively?

Strategic volunteer recruitment goes beyond simply posting “we need volunteers” on your website and hoping people will show up.

Today’s volunteer landscape is evolving, and successful recruitment requires thoughtful planning, strong program infrastructure, targeted messaging, and a deeper understanding of why people choose to volunteer.

In this interactive workshop, we will explore how national trends, highlighting the National Volunteer Action Strategy, are shaping the way organizations attract and engage volunteers. Participants will also examine the foundational elements of a strong volunteer program, ensuring your organization is set up to support volunteers once they say “yes.”

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply insights from the National Volunteer Action Strategy to better understand volunteer trends

  • Examine key elements of a volunteer program

  • Craft role descriptions and an elevator pitch that attract the right candidates

  • Design a targeted volunteer recruitment strategy

  • Apply practical best practices to strengthen volunteer recruitment
