Join us for a day of learning and networking with other staff from newcomer-serving organizations who work with volunteers! This event is taking place at IRCOM, 215 Isabel St, Winnipeg, on November 6, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Description of training led by Volunteer Manitoba:
Introduction to Volunteer Engagement: The 3Rs of Volunteer Management
Volunteer engagement is at the heart of every successful non-profit organization. This workshop is designed to help you attract, support, and retain volunteers effectively. By examining current trends, exploring key volunteer demographics, and assessing your organization’s approach to volunteerism, this session will provide practical tools to elevate your engagement strategies.

MODULE 1: GENERAL ANALYSIS
- What we know about volunteers today – an exploration of current research findings about trends in volunteerism across Canada
- The characteristics and interests of 3 key volunteer demographics – youth, mature and newcomer volunteers
- Recommendations to improve involvement of each of these demographics
- An overview of the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement
MODULE 2: VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT
- Best practices for targeted recruitment and recruitment techniques
MODULE 3: VOLUNTEER RETENTION
- The three steps to volunteer retention
- Types of recognition
- Explore recent research results on what recognition techniques motivate volunteers
Volunteer Manitoba's training is based on the principles of the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement and is for anyone who works with, manages and/or supports volunteer engagement within their organization.
Snacks, lunch and soft drinks are included in the Registration Fee for this event. Please note there is a question about dietary restrictions on the registration page.

- Note that parking is not available on site, but paid street parking is available on the side streets around the building. There are also parking lots within walking distance.
