This workshop is the first session of a 3-part series focused on Trauma-informed Care and Vicarious Trauma. These sessions are recommended for staff and volunteers from newcomer-serving agencies for professional development purposes.
This workshop will focus on understanding trauma and how it affects the nervous system impacting behaviour, memory, and learning. We will discuss how unexpected experiences can activate fear and dysregulation and work with our nervous systems to practice some regulation strategies.
This workshop is a good starting point for frontline workers new to the field or looking to understand how trauma impacts day-to-day living.
In this engaging session, our experienced facilitator will guide you through essential insights into trauma and its impact on the brain, covering vital topics such as:

- The Complex Nature of Memory
- Fundamental Human Needs Theory
- Navigating Arousal and Regulation
