About Westman Immigrant Services

Westman Immigrant Services (WIS) envisions a community where diversity is valued and newcomers are accepted and supported in meeting their full potential. It is the mission of our organization to provide settlement, employment and language services while welcoming and helping newcomers create connections and become successful member of the community. WIS provides settlement and integration services to western Manitoba in the communities of Brandon, Cartwright, Boissevain, Killarney, Russell and Virden. WIS is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, WIS employs over 45 people (more than 55% of whom are newcomers themselves), retains the services of more than 90 professional language interpreters and assistants and is supported by over 100 community volunteers. It is our goal to support the development of newcomers at every phase of their establishment in Canada.
