Success Skills Centre
About Success Skills Centre
Success Skills Centre (SSC) is the first and longest immigrant-serving agency in Manitoba which exclusively provides much-needed specialized programs and services for immigrant professionals and skilled workers.
The Centre has set itself up as a not-for-profit social enterprise, with the long-term goal of becoming self-funded due to the increasing charitable and governments’ funding uncertainties. At present, thanks to funding from government, its services and programs are free of charge.
Nevertheless, to ensure the Centre’s continuance, low-cost, practical courses are delivered through the Centre such as accounting and finance, drafting, advanced computer skills, IT, technical writing, CELBAN, IELTS, CELPIP and more. These can be found on its web pages. As well, additional specialized accreditation support over and above regular employment assistance (for example, extensive help preparing for specialty interviews and career counselling for those individuals who do not fall within its regular mandate). Other contract activities include pre-arrival supports and being a testing centre for a number of national/provincial professional certification tests.
Products & Services
The Centre offers comprehensive related-occupation employment assistance (including, for example, needs assessment, career counselling, interview preparation, help with credential assessment and funding, related job search and placements, mentorships, paid and unpaid related internships), and providing supports such as on-the-job maintenance, one-on-one consultations, job club, networking and relevant referrals. Employers are key volunteers in various aspects of the Centre’s programming and SSC provides support to them for their staffing needs.
The Centre’s monthly Hands-On Practicum workshops and Employer Engagement events provide our clients experiential and practical preparation for the Canadian workplace and daily Canadian life. As well, SSC co-ordinates the Winnipeg Connector Partnership (a national networking program), in collaboration with several Winnipeg immigrant employment-serving organizations
