About Louis Riel School Division

The Louis Riel School Division hosts the St. Vital and St. Boniface Neighbourhood Immigrant Settlement Program.

Products & Services

The St. Vital and St. Boniface Neighbourhood Immigrant Settlement Workers (NISW) provide settlement information and orientation to newcomers. They promote public awareness about immigrant and refugee issues. The NISW’s provide newcomers and refugees with settlement support to help facilitate their transition to life in Canada. These settlement supports include: working on a settlement plan with clients, making appropriate referrals, and advocating for and assisting clients seeking information on health, employment, housing, education, job training, and community programs.

We assist eligible newcomer families to obtain important documents (e.g. MB Health Card, SIN, PR Card, applying for citizenship, Rent Assist, and Manitoba Child Benefits applications, etc.). We also help newcomers to gain an understanding of the public school system, including assistance with completing school registration forms.
