About Family Dynamics
Family Dynamics is an accredited not-for-profit, community-based agency, dedicated to strengthening families and building healthy, supportive communities. The mission of Family Dynamics is to bring programs, partnerships and resources together to empower and strengthen families and communities. Our services and programs are grounded in the belief that individuals, families and communities have strengths that help to maintain family cohesion and support the well-being, quality of life and development of individual family members and communities. Services are voluntary and can be refused or discontinued at any time. Services are low or no cost. We adhere to the Human Rights Code and offer services without discrimination. We adhere to the Social Work Code of Ethics.
Products & Services
Community Settlement Program (formerly NISW)
Our Community Settlement Program offers free support to all newcomers who are permanent residents residing in the south/south west part of Winnipeg (St James, River Heights, Fort Rouge, Fort Garry, Fort Richmond, and St Norbert).

Our Settlement Supports for Individuals and Families (Case management level 0-1):
Comprehensive needs assessment, settlement planning and ongoing assessment to support emerging needs.
One to one settlement support for individuals and families who are mostly independent but require some assistance with identified needs, referrals and connection to programs and services to ensure that settlement goals are well supported and progressing.
For newcomers who are navigating settlement independently yearly check-ins will be offered to ensure integration continues successfully.

Family Supports for Newcomers Program
Case Management for higher level/ more complex needs (level 2-3):
Our holistic case management program provides free services to permanent residents, refugee claimants, temporary resident and naturalized citizens who have multiple barriers and complex needs requiring additional support to adapt to life in Canada.
Domains of support:Basic needs/ life skills; safety; health, mental health; disability; family-relationships; legal issues; social and isolation issues; education and employment. This includes support for victims of crime and gender based violence as well as clients with diagnosed and undiagnosed mental health concerns.

- A professional multi cultural team
- Working from a social work case management model
- Providing wrap around supports to newcomers, primarily from a refugee background
- Comprehensive family focused needs assessment, triage and settlement planning
- We provide support where it is needed (in the home, in the community)
- We have interpretation and transportation support
- We provide responsive one-one support, advocacy, referrals, systems navigating, coordination of multiple services, cultural education and skill building

In-Home Family Support Program
Our In-Home Family Support Program provides hands-on, practical support (e.g. child care and household management) to Winnipeg families on a sliding fee scale. The program strives to support families through difficult times, strengthen parent/child relationships and promote the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of children.
Parent Coach Program
Our Parent Coach Program provides home-based support for Winnipeg families on a sliding fee scale who want to improve their parenting and/or home management skills through weekly visits.
Families and Schools Together (F&ST)
Our free eight week evidence based school program brings Winnipeg families and schools professionals together in an 8 week school based community prevention program designed to empower parents and strengthen relationships between, families, schools and communities. Currently the F&ST program is being offered virtually and is open to all families regardless of what school
Counselling
We provide confidential counselling within the offices of Family Dynamics and virtually for individuals, couples, families and groups to develop new coping strategies. Our counsellors practice with a variety of therapeutic approaches to help our clients navigate through life’s challenges. Our counselling services are available to all Winnipeg residents on a sliding scale.
Behaviour Support for Licensed Child Care Facilities
The Behaviour Support Program is a free service for Winnipeg families, child care providers and collateral services to support children in licensed child care centres, nursery schools and family child care homes where children have behaviour/social/emotional challenges.
Family Resource Centres
Family Dynamics operates six neighbourhood family resource centres within subsidized housing developments throughout Winnipeg. Resource centre staff work collaboratively with community advisory committees and community stakeholders to offer programming that meet the unique needs identified by each community. Resource centres are located at Elwick Villlage, Keenleyside, Plessis, Tuxedo, Westgrove, and Woodydell Manitoba housing sites.
Family Child Care Training Program
This program offers 6-9 months of free training followed by ongoing mentoring and individual support for participants who want to become licensed family child care home providers. This program is available to all Winnipeg residents and is free.
