The CHAI Immigrant Centre is all about connecting local immigrants with local Canadians. During the crucial and difficult first years of immigration, the CHAI Immigrant Centre is a place where immigrants can find people to connect with as they establish themselves in Manitoba. It is more than a place to meet for "CHAI"- a cup of tea, although that is a regular activity. It is a place where a friendly Manitoban will take the time to develop relationships, answer questions, provide opportunities for conversational English and have fun.
Products & Services
Our sessions begin in the fall of the year as our program runs from September to June.
We provide the following to new immigrants in our 2-hour Friday evening program:
-Free English practice
-Fun Games
-Friendship with Canadians
-Weekly informational presentations focussed on the fundamentals of living in Canada. This includes discussion around major Canadian holidays and the opportunity to incorporate practically where possible, by inviting participants to experience these times both in and outside of CHAI
