Event Details
This workshop is intended for senior and/or middle management of the settlement sector.
In the settlement sector, the effectiveness of the service providing network deeply affects people’s lives and so it is helpful to understand what can strengthen the network and what can make it more brittle. Newcomers rely on that network to learn, access resources, get help to address difficulties, and generally develop a sense of familiarity and belonging. Service providing organizations rely on the network to share information, determine partnerships and strategic direction, and extend capacity. The sector as a whole relies on those networks to keep our communities vibrant and thriving.
In the first portion of the workshop, Margerit Roger of Eupraxia Training will present on a small study of the referral networks that supported 21 newcomer families in Family Dynamics' Family Supports for Refugees funded by the Province of Manitoba. Workshop participants will then have the opportunity to brainstorm concrete actions that can be undertaken to strengthen referral relationships and improve the settlement experience for newcomers.
