This training webinar will explain the process by which Protected Persons (accepted refugee claimants) can apply for permanent residence for themselves and their immediate family members. Through this application process, the family can be reunited in Canada.
The webinar is intended primarily for NGO staff who support refugees with their applications, or answer their questions.
Key Objectives
- Providing tools and training to support those assisting protected persons
- Providing key advocacy efforts for faster reunification and better process
The webinar is organized in partnership with the Refugee Family Reunification Project
Facilitators:
Janet Dench is one of the founders of the Refugee Family Reunification Project, a volunteer initiative to help bring refugee families together. She identified the need for such a project during the 25 years she served as Executive Director of the Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR). She stepped down from that position at the end of 2022 but continues to work part-time at the CCR as Senior Policy Advisor. Through tireless dedication and passion, Janet contributed to the Canadian Council for Refugees, helping it evolve from its modest origins into a nationally and internationally recognized leader in advocating for refugee rights.
