Privacy and Data Protection Protocol for Non-profits

MANSO is pleased to host a webinar for IRCC-funded SPOs in Manitoba on the subject of privacy and data protection protocol. All agencies funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) are expected to attend this online training session. 

Due to space limitations, agencies with 50 staff and under are allocated a maximum of 2 places, and agencies with staff of more than 50 staff working with newcomers can register a maximum of 3 places. MANSO member agencies that do not receive IRCC funding may register 1 representative. The webinar will be recorded so that you can share it with other members of your team. Live interpretation into French will be provided.

This webinar aims to equip non-profit organizations with the knowledge and tools necessary to establish robust privacy and data protection protocols. Addressing the unique challenges faced by the non-profit sector, the session will delve into various aspects of data protection, including:

  • Introduction to Privacy and Data Protection
  • Developing Data Security Policies
  • Handling Sensitive Data
  • Identification of, and Response to Privacy Breaches

 

Learning objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and understand best practices for secure online behaviour, and recognizing and mitigating common cyber threats.
  • Learn principles to protect and secure sensitive information, including that of clients
  • Understand legal responsibilities of organizations and individuals regarding data privacy
  • Learn principles and protocols to develop and implement data security policies, and integrate data security into existing organizational frameworks 

 

Presenters

  • Nitin Gupta is a seasoned software solutions architect, requirements analyst and project manager with a 21-year rich experience in IT project management across healthcare, finance, and social services, focusing on enterprise resource planning (ERP), among other fields. Nitin has lived experience as a newcomer to Canada and a former client of settlement sector SPOs.
  • Sumegha Gupta is a visionary leader with over 19 years of transformative experience in both public and private sectors. Sumegha's dynamic career has led her to architect CARMIS, an AI-driven case management solution tailored for nonprofits in Canada that has been recognized by the Government of Canada as a success story from the Prairies. Her commitment also extends to sitting on numerous boards, and advocating for women in STEM and IT.
