This training aims to equip newcomer-serving organizations across Manitoba with resources and tools to create and implement Policies and Action Plans. This workshop will guide organizations in responding to Anti-Racism, Anti-discrimination, and Safety Clauses requirements and in monitoring and building accountability by providing best practices and examples.
This training is for leaders in the settlement sector and board members from newcomer service providers in Manitoba. It will provide an opportunity for leadership in the Newcomer Settlement Sector to enhance their anti-racist and anti-discriminatory lenses and examine accountability mechanisms at individual, institutional, and systemic levels. It addresses root causes and harms while creating barrier-free opportunities for equitable outcomes.
Workshop content will include:
- Developing adaptable anti-racism policy and action plans with measurable elements and practical examples.
- Strengthening organizational non-discrimination and safety practices through policy enhancement, sample policies, and accountability mechanisms at the individual, institutional, and systemic levels
- Fostering a culture of anti-racism, equity, and inclusivity with training recommendations and the sharing of best practices.
Expectation:
This webinar is a 2-hour session, delivered virtually via Zoom. Participants will receive a list of training recommendations, tools and resources.
Facilitator/ Presenter: Jackie Hogue (she)
Jackie Hogue is a member of the Red River Métis Nation and has Polish Settler heritage. She is passionate about supporting organizations to be in good relationship by dismantling racism and colonization. She relies on her ongoing learning and reclaiming of Indigenous ways of knowing and being to guide her work.
Jackie facilitates meaningful, and engaging training sessions, consultations, and gatherings. Jackie’s facilitation approach centres openness and care, striving to support good dialogue and reflexivity. This approach empowers individuals and groups to build connections and act from a place of understanding. Jackie enjoys facilitation design and creating opportunities for all to engage.
Jackie has been involved in community-building and social change for two decades. Twelve of those years were spent growing and shaping non-profit organizations in leadership and management roles. Jackie has experience in developing and enhancing programs, evaluating projects, building partnerships, and supporting teams. Her conflict resolution training and life experiences, both local and international, have informed her systems-based analysis and approach. Jackie is also an auntie and holds an MA in Peace Studies.
