DESCRIPTION: NOTE: This event is being hosted at 12:30 PM CDT (Manitoba 
 time) / 11:30 AM CST (Saskatchewan time) Having quality resources for 
 teaching digital skills is critical &ndash\; and yet not enough. This 
 presentation offers best practices and examples of a successful teaching 
 approach using the Digital Literacy Curriculum Resource to help newcomers 
 build digital literacy over the long term. Learn about the barriers to 
 learning and more importantly how to overcome them! In this session you 
 will learn: the characteristics of learners with low digital skills and 
 the barriers to learning they can face the difference between short term 
 digital interventions and building long term digital literacy an approach 
 to teaching digital skills that is proven successful Presenters: Lisa 
 Herrera is the Lead Instructional Coordinator\, LINC\, at ISSofBC. Lisa 
 has extensive experience in EAL\, including as an Assessment Consultant\, 
 and as a PBLA Regional Coach with CCLB. Caroline Pendleton has more than 
 25 years experience in EAL as an instructor\, curriculum and resource 
 developer\, tester and TESOL Trainer. She is currently an instructional 
 coordinator for the ISSofBC LINC Program. This event is being hosted 
 jointly by the Saskatchewan Association of Immigrant Settlement and 
 Integration Agencies (SAISIA) and the Manitoba Association of Newcomer 
 Serving Organizations (MANSO). The event is open to all staff from member 
 agencies of SAISIA and MANSO\, at no cost. This is an online event. You 
 will need to have access to a computer/ laptop or other devices with a 
 webcam &amp\; microphone\, as well as an internet connection.
