This workshop will help frontline settlement staff better understand how to collaborate with private sponsors, including the roles and responsibilities of sponsoring groups/individuals and service providers. Facilitators will also explore how to respond to common sponsorship challenges and breakdowns.
Target Audience: This workshop is appropriate for frontline settlement staff (including intake and reception staff) with <5 years of experience. More senior staff who would like a refresher / update are also welcome.
Outcomes: Participants will:
- Better understand the private sponsorship system (PSRs, BVORs; Sponsorship Agreement Holders, Constituent Groups, Groups of Five, Community Sponsors)
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of sponsoring groups and individuals
- Discuss the roles of service providers, and how service providers can respond to common challenges
- Understand what to do in the case of a sponsorship breakdown
