DESCRIPTION: Designed for service providers\, educators\, and community 
 organizations\, this workshop provides participants with a foundational 
 understanding of anti-Muslim racism\, equipping them to recognize\, name\,
  and respond to Islamophobia in everyday contexts. Through guided 
 discussion\, participants will deconstruct dominant myths and stereotypes 
 about Islam and Muslim communities. The workshop explores practical tools 
 for identifying Islamophobic attitudes and behaviours in real-world 
 settings\, including the media\, workplace\, community interactions\, and 
 personal relationships. Finally\, the session concludes with actionable 
 strategies for combating anti-Muslim racism across multiple contexts. 
 Learning Outcomes Define Islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism\, and 
 distinguish between the two concepts using relevant terminology. Identify 
 and deconstruct common myths and stereotypes about Islam and Muslim 
 communities\, encouraging participants to directly engage with the 
 community to cultivate relationships. Recognize Islamophobic attitudes\, 
 behaviours\, and microaggressions across real-world settings\, including 
 the media\, workplace\, community interactions\, and personal 
 relationships. Critically evaluate media sources and social media content 
 for misinformation\, bias\, and distorted narratives about Muslims. Apply 
 practical intervention strategies to address Islamophobia between 
 colleagues\, within the community\, and among friends and family. 
 Demonstrate the use of inclusive\, anti-racist language when discussing 
 issues affecting Muslim communities in professional and personal contexts.
  Facilitator Bios Eve Sotiriadou is the Executive Director of the Canadian
  Muslim Women's Institute Family Resource Center\, where she oversees 
 essential services that foster well-being\, safety\, and belonging in 
 Winnipeg. Her work is driven by public safety\, educational policy\, anti-
 hate education\, and community organizing. She earned a Master's 
 researching Canada's repatriation and reintegration of Muslim women and 
 children from the Islamic State\, emphasizing Islamophobia's role in their
  migration. Eve created a virtual toolkit on classroom Islamophobia\, now 
 part of the Manitoba curriculum\, and contributed to the Manitoba Anti-
 Islamophobia Working Group\, developing anti-racism policies for schools. 
 She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies at Queen's University\, 
 exploring gender-affirming education in Canada. Zebiba Ibrahim is a 
 community and human resource development professional with over 15 years 
 of experience dedicated to capacity building\, workplace wellness\, and 
 DEIB. Centered on psychological health and safety\, she takes a holistic\,
  people-first approach to creating inclusive\, equitable environments 
 where individuals\, teams\, and organizations thrive. As a Chartered 
 Professional in Human Resource (CPHR)\, Certified DEIB Specialist\, 
 Certified Organization Development Practitioner\, she integrates adult 
 learning principles\, coaching\, and equity frameworks to cultivate 
 inclusive environments\, systems design\, and community capacity-building 
 programs that advance community and employee wellbeing and inclusive 
 culture. Zebiba holds a BA in Management and a Post-Degree Diploma in 
 Human Resources Management\, combining deep strategic expertise with a 
 passion for building healthier\, high performing workplaces. This is an
