DESCRIPTION: In support of World Refugee Day\, The Excel Empowerment Centre
  Inc (TEEC)\, the City of Winnipeg\, the Manitoba Association of Newcomer 
 Serving Organizations (MANSO)\, and our member organizations and 
 partners\, will come together to mark World Refugee Day in Manitoba on 
 June 20\, 2023. World Refugee Day falls each year on June 20 and is 
 dedicated to refugees around the globe. World Refugee Day was held 
 globally for the first time on June 20\, 2001\, commemorating the 50th 
 anniversary of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. It 
 is therefore our honour and duty to follow in these footsteps and continue
  to commemorate this day with Manitoba in our beautiful city of Winnipeg. 
 The event is organized by settlement service providers and other 
 stakeholders to shine a light on the rights\, needs and dreams of refugees
  as well as to reflect on our shared global responsibility to respond to 
 the ongoing forced displacement crisis. More than 20 organizations are 
 collaborating to celebrate World Refugee Day in-person at Central Park 
 (Carlton St.) with the theme being &ldquo\;A Dance in Paradise&rdquo\;\, 
 to celebrate our diverse cultural experience through cultural activities. 
 The event celebrates both the experiences of refugees and of organizations
  who play a positive role in refugee experiences. What better place to 
 mark it than Central Park\, which has historically been the heart of 
 (Re)settlement in Winnipeg? This FREE event will highlight opportunities 
 to learn more about refugees including Guest speaker-Louise Simbandumwe 
 Real life stories told by refugees Cultural dances Ethnic Foods Drum 
 performance Fun activities for kids We welcome our members and partners to
  register for the event and participate in it. Click on the 
 &ldquo\;Register&rdquo\; link below and fill in your information\, and a 
 confirmation email will be sent your way. Members of the public are 
 welcome to participate in the event. We encourage you to join us\, and we 
 look forward to your participation as individuals and as service providers
  on June 20 at 12pm (CDT).
